Someone has finally said it! Stretching your stomach that much will make maintenance really hard.

I also think that people who struggle with binge eating can’t really address that tendency if they’re still technically bingeing, even if it is on healthy food

Exactly!!! I’ve done the swap, if I fancied the chocolate I’ve gone for the yogurt bowl instead as it’s healthier but I ended up eating the chocolate bar too because that’s what I really fancied 🤦♀️🤦♀️

Exactly! I can eat a bowl of veggies with some protein but will be hungry in an hour .. but if I have a chicken sandwich or beef sandwich and am good for 3-4 hours.. 😋 x

It’s about balance. In deficit, I do budget for candy , chips, wine etc. ☺️it’s more important for me to not forbid food

I agree with what you’re saying…also eating all the volume really does bloat, especially the older lady!! I get what they’re saying, but little and often for most people is more satisfying, you’re not obsessing and waiting for such massive meals!

this is true.. its all about balance i guess. there might be times where its appropriate to volume eat a massive amount of something healthy to stop you bingeing on something not so great.
But on the other hand there would be times that youve gotta get used to a smaller portion of something nice and going to sleep hungry haha

I think volume eating encourages obsessive relationships with food. We talk a lot about how successfully beating obesity includes changing habits. Volume eating doesn’t address these eating habits, it encourages excessive eating in a different way.

True. I don’t have a problem with volume eating as a tool. I know it is helpful for a lot of people. However, if it is impossible for you to feel satisfied on a portion that is not massive, that restricts your food options so much, if you want to stick within a reasonable caloric intake.

Totally agree with this, most of the time it’s not hunger fuelling the cravings. Better to focus mostly on unprocessed foods that you enjoy with a few little treats.

I’ve been saying this!! It’s not helpful to be eating flipping gigantic meals allllll the time, especially where you’re replacing whole nutritious foods (eg honey) with low cal alternatives like sweetener.

well said I find the volume of some of those recipes overwhelming, sometimes you just need a smaller amount of what you actually want ❤️

I live in Japan, and the portions are smaller, and so I'm trying to adjust to it. I used yo volume eat to be slim, but it didn't get rid of the habit of feeling overfull, so I ended up yo yo ing. I think it's better to learn not to feel stuffed.

There’s one girl on here who eats bowls of butternut squash and says it’s like sweet potato. As though sweet potato is bad???? It’s giving disordered eating
