One good deed counts as ten. One bad deed counts as one. These verses belong to Al-An’am, a surah from the Prophet’s ﷺ last year in Makkah, when his followers were persecuted and his movement looked weak. Verse 160: on Judgement Day, a good deed is counted ten times over, and a bad deed is repaid once, nothing extra. No one is wronged. The Prophet said even an intended good deed is written down, and a wrong you hold back from counts as good. Verse 161: God tells the Prophet to say he’s on the straight path, the way of Abraham, who turned toward the truth and never worshipped anything beside God. The Makkans honored Abraham as founder of the Ka’bah. The Prophet was calling them back to their own oldest path.
