@monstrofarm: I didn’t think watering this orchid would be so difficult… 🪨🌸 I thought it might work: water in the plate, moisture moves up the rock, and the moss keeps her roots hydrated. But, it didn’t go as planned. So here’s how I’m watering her now: 💧 First, I put the whole setup over a bowl and slowly water the sphagnum from the top. When moss gets really dry, water can run through before it has a chance to soak in, so I take my time and make a few passes. 🪨 Then, I lower the rock into the water to help soak the moss around the roots, keeping the crown, where the leaves meet, above the water. 🌱 Once the moss is hydrated, I lift everything out and let the excess drain. The goal is moist moss with airflow around the roots. 👆 Between waterings, I check the moss instead of following a set schedule. With everything exposed like this, she dries out much faster than she did in a pot. She’s definitely more work than I planned, but I’m not ready to give up on the rock just yet. #TikTokLearningCampaign #EduTok #plants #gardeningtiktokcontest

It should be fine if you just soak it once a week in water like a kokedama

Phil. :
maybe put some string around the orchid roots under the moss so it absorbs water from the dish and delivers it directly to the orchid roots, if that makes sense.

Might I suggest leaving the rock in water. I have two that live and bloom full time in water propagation. If that doesn't work maybe a terracotta type rock or a lava stone type rock. im enjoying watching the experiment either way.
