I can’t believe less than 5% of people see this spot… Follow @americantravelarchives for more hidden gems and bucket list adventures across the U.S. The hike from Tuolumne Meadows to Glen Aulin is one of Yosemite’s most peaceful and underrated routes. You’ll pass alpine meadows, granite domes, wildflowers, and waterfalls — all while following the Tuolumne River the whole way. The trail leads to Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp, where you can camp by a roaring waterfall and fall asleep to the sound of the river. It’s one of those places that feels untouched, especially in the early morning or golden hour. 🥾 11.6 miles round trip 📈 Moderate — a few rocky sections, but nothing too intense 💧 Tons of water access — bring a filter ⛺️ You’ll need a wilderness permit to camp (book early during peak season) 🌼 Best time to go: July through early October, when the snow has cleared and the wildflowers are out ✨ Pro Tip: Start early to have Wapama Falls and the trail mostly to yourself — and don’t forget bug spray if you’re camping. This trail starts at Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park and ends in one of the quietest corners of the park. Tag someone you’d backpack this with — or drop your favorite off-the-radar national park hike!
