@citizensarrestnet: Yesterday we arrested an oil company executive in Mayfair. Last year we citizen’s arrested Mr d'Argouges, Perenco CFO, for his part in the same crimes. This man is responsible for spilling nearly 200 barrels of oil into Poole Harbour’s protected waters, one of the UK’s most important nature reserves, in March 2023. Swimmers, beachgoers, and fishermen were disrupted, many locals lost out on income. Conservationists sounded the alarm about the spills harm to marine and bird life including the mute swan. Actions that Intentionally or recklessly caused a public nuisance (activity that harms or endangers the public right such as pollution or obstruction of people going about their business) contrary to section 78 of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 are indictable offences. They carry a maximum of 10 years in prison. If you or me disrupted tourists and local businesses we’d be arrested. But Mr d'Argouges and everyone else in his company is carrying on with his criminal activity. Our evidence shows some of the UK’s biggest polluters could be breaking the law and so we’re within our rights to stop a crime taking place.
