The other four members had already headed down to the transit vans, leaving Sophia and Manon alone in the stark, fluorescent light. What started as a minor disagreement over a minor formation change quickly spiraled out of control. Months of exhaustion, unspoken pressure, and the terrifying weight of their hidden feelings had turned into dry kindling. A single spark was all it took. "If you're going to drag the formation every single time we hit the bridge, Manon, you could at least warn us," Sophia said, her voice carrying that sharp, razor-focused authority she used when she was stressed. "We can't keep adjusting to you." Manon froze, dropping the jacket she had been about to pack. She turned around, her eyes flashing. "Adjusting to me? Sophia, I’ve been giving one hundred percent all day. You’re micromanaging every single step I take because nothing I do is ever perfect enough for your vision." "It’s not my vision, it’s the group's future!" Sophia fired back, stepping closer, her jaw tight. "But maybe you don't care about that as much as the rest of us." The words cut deep, hitting Manon’s deepest insecurity. Her breath hitched. The anger evaporated, replaced instantly by a sharp, blinding hurt. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over her cheeks before she could stop them. "Is that really what you think of me?" Manon whispered, her voice breaking completely. Sophia’s expression softened instantly, panic flashing across her face as she saw the tears. "Manon, wait, I didn't mean—" "Save it, Sophia," Manon choked out. She grabbed her bag, shoved past Sophia, and practically ran out of the room, leaving the door swinging in her wake. Sitting in the dark hallway, Manon pulled her knees to her chest and wept quietly. Listening to Sophia's harsh words repeat in her head, she came to a single, agonizing conclusion: Sophia hated her. She didn't just dislike her behavior; she despised her presence in the group.
