@vchan118: The Emperor Emeritus Travels by Subway to "Kodomo no Kuni" (1985) "Imperial Archives"—a series presenting nostalgic footage of the Imperial Family features a rare clip of the Emperor Emeritus (then the Crown Prince and Crown Princess) and Sayako Kuroda (then Princess Nori) traveling by subway. On May 6, 1985, the couple and Sayako Kuroda attended the 20th-anniversary ceremony of "Kodomo no Kuni" ("Children's Land"), a nature-themed park established to commemorate the couple's marriage. As it was the final day of the "Golden Week" holiday period, they opted to take the subway to avoid traffic congestion. The group boarded a special train on the Hanzomon Line of the Eidan Subway (now Tokyo Metro) at Aoyama-itchome Station, subsequently transferring to the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line and the Kodomo no Kuni Line to reach their destination. This marked the first time the Emperor Emeritus had ever traveled by subway within Japan.
