The National Hurricane Center expects it to become a major hurricane by Friday, possibly reaching Category 4 strength, as it approaches southwestern and west-central Mexico this weekend. Forecasters warn of 4 to 8 inches of rain in Colima and Jalisco, with isolated totals near 12 inches, which could trigger flooding and mudslides. Life-threatening surf and rip currents will build along the coast through the weekend. Trudy is the latest storm in a Pacific season that has already broken the all-time record for hurricane energy.
