@travelsecretsthepodcast: Is this the most magical way to experience the Nile? 🇪🇬 The wonderful Melinda Stevens, former editor-in-chief of Condé Nast Traveller, has travelled to some of the most extraordinary places in the world, so when she joined me on Travel Secrets, I was particularly excited to hear which destination she thought everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. Her answer? Egypt! And she had a rather fabulous recommendation for anyone planning a trip. Melinda told me about sailing down the Nile with @nourelnil aboard one of their beautiful traditional boats, with glamorous red-and-white striped sails billowing overhead and egrets fluttering up from the riverbanks as they glided silently along the water. She described the whole experience as absolutely astonishing, and I must say, it sounds heavenly! We’ve got some wonderful new episodes of Travel Secrets coming very soon, but in the meantime, I’m taking a little look back through the archives at some of the fabulous travel secrets my guests have shared over the years. You can watch all our previous episodes on YouTube or listen wherever you get your podcasts! 🎙️ Now, have you ever sailed down the Nile? I’d love to know how you experienced it and whether you have any recommendations of your own!

We did this tour. The boats are amazing and if there’s a breeze you’ll be under sail if not they can use a tug or their own engines. None of which were particularly noisy. You anchor in a quiet spot every evening. You can swim in the Nile and walk the banks. Yes, on one boat they open a gift shop for about two hours on the trip and no more. You’re in a flotilla of about 5 boats. Amazing to seat quietly and just watch life on the Nile drift past. Expensive and but so worth it

Hmm whilst their website is good the reviews say that often the boats have to be pulled by tugs so quite noisy and the females often take over the communal area with her own jewellery stand.
