@ashleyjanellee: Anthropic just published research warning that small AI models could be months away from copying themselves across internet-connected devices, like smart TVs, smart ovens, security cameras, and Android TV boxes. These devices often have weak security, and Anthropic says a self-replicating AI would be hard to shut down because there would be no single central system to turn off. #Anthropic also says a fully rogue replicator does not exist yet. In its tests, models with 30 billion parameters or fewer could complete many of the individual steps but struggled to finish the whole process reliably. Do you know how secure the smart devices on your home network are? Tell me in the comments if this changes how you think about them. 📺 Want more stories like this? nothing on computer land functions without programming. even if it learns. it learns within the parameters set in its programming.

before people run with this and assume that their smart fridge, etc... can be take over by AI, people need to learn the types and sizes of the models, and lab evidence of a model running on hardware that is typically incompatible with running neural networks or having the processing power to do so

if humans keep training the models to copy themselves, the models will obey 😞

these AI companies are doing this to try and scare people to imo eventually force people into AI services and or investment.... they are creating and programming the models if they wanted to put better controls in place they would work to do that .... notice with all this rogue AI there's no anti rogue AI??

At most they would spam and ad malware as far as intelligence these devices don’t have the chipset. But def capable of spying
