she revealed that the baby daddy was apparently her secret boyfriend at the time who was 19. when she told him she was pregnant he got worried about what people would think and what it would do to his job, so that's why she ended up lying (it's a bit unclear if she stayed with the boyfriend or not, he's not mentioned again). she ended up miscarrying the baby, so that's why no one mentioned the topic ever again. as soon as they found out the truth, both of OPs parents tried to reach out and apologise but got blocked and the same happened to the adopted sister when she tried to apologise and claim that she always planned to admit the truth eventually (even tho she had 10 years to do that???). eventually they drive 8 hours to OPs house but he pretends not to be home. they leave a letter which contained a cheque for $25,000 as an apology for the time lost, but he tears it apart. his ex also tries to message him and apologise, but he just ignores her. the next time he sees his family is when his grandmother died, since he was included in the inheritance and his mother tried to ask him to give it to his sister, since he ended up inheriting her estate or part of it that was equivalent to $180,000. he refuses and keeps the money and the story ends with his father saying that he understands and that's it.
