I started teaching my son alphabets, numbers, counting and reading before he was 2. His apps on my phone were all educational. There were no toys that were not educational. He's been reading at grade 1 level from 5 years old.
He started grade 1 this year. This is his term 3 marks. Every night we read. I play with him all the time. The tv goes off, he draws or paints. If you can buy your kid a R50 gun toy, you can buy R25 pencils and a R10 book with blank pages

Oh Enhle, my parents were super intentional about my education. Before there was Exclusive Books, I would go to CNA after Saturday school and look at the books that my dad would want to buy for me. Another thing, my parents listened to my teachers. I was in a school eKasi and my teachers called my dad into a meeting and suggested that he take me to an ex model C school because my academics were quite good and shem my Dad listened. Him and my mom produced a Wits graduate. I owe those two so much 🥹

I'm a 17 year old matriculant, and the top achiever at my school. My mom trained me from an early age. To a point where I remember my mom never bought me dolls cause she believes that she's not raising a mother, she's raising an educated woman. I had educational toys. The amount of support I get from my parents sana!!!!! My parents gave my education their all. I just wanted to say that a present parent is very important in a child's education.
