@danielsin753: On May 12, 2025, Liam Bradley arrived at a fertility clinic before it opened. He was 38, had stage 4 cancer, and had a chemotherapy appointment an hour later. It had all started on March 6, while playing golf with friends. He felt in the best shape of his life. They were just flu symptoms, nothing more. Three days later, he looked in the mirror and saw a yellow tinge in his eyes and skin. On April 11, an MRI gave it a name: cholangiocarcinoma, bile duct cancer. Twelve tumors in his liver. None were operable. He was warned that chemotherapy could leave him unable to have children. He already had two, Darcy and Rory, from a previous relationship. His partner, 30-year-old Lois Rose, wanted to have a child with him. It took six weeks for chemo to begin. Liam experienced them as an endless wait. Later, he said it was a blessing in disguise; that time was enough for him to do what he did. The clinic opened early for him. He left his sample. An hour later, he was hooked up to the first cycle of a six-month treatment. They told him to think in months, not years. He thought of someone who didn’t have a name yet. Birdie was born in July 2026. "If I didn’t have Lois and Birdie, I think cancer would control my life," Liam said. There are men who count the time they have left. Liam decided to leave something behind that would keep counting it. See less
