Also there is a 5 year statute of limitations to challenge it, which ended at least in 2005 - 21 years ago

You basically described the law and gave your opinion… just because ut makes no sense doesn’t mean she’s innocent

People commenting that she, or her dad, lied...have no idea what the process is. Here's a hint, you have to provide proof, of birth dates, marriage dates, entry dates, etc. If you just say "I'm under 18 and my dad natz'd, I'm a citizen", they check. You have to provide proof of what you're saying

It’s not really as simple as “file a form and become a citizen”. There’s a ton of hoops to jump through to get that form approved and processed.

Ilhan Omar says she became a U.S. citizen in 2000 when she was 17, through her father’s citizenship. At the time, children under 18 could automatically become citizens when a parent naturalized, as long as certain requirements were met. This was a much easier route because she wouldn’t have had to go through the entire citizenship process herself. If she had been 18, things would have been different because she would have needed to qualify on her own, meet the five-year residency requirement, pass background checks, take English and civics tests, attend an interview, and be approved. So, the "18 and over" route was not a guaranteed citizenship. Since Omar came to the United States in 1995, she would have been right around that five-year mark in 2000, meaning she might not even have qualified yet, depending on the exact dates. So getting citizenship through her father would have been a simpler and potentially faster option than applying as an adult. That explains why going through her father was the more attractive route: it was a GUARANTEED citizenship. So your understanding of immigration law is amateurish.

They are saying she was not 17 she was 18. So the derivative citizenship doesn't apply.

I was thinking along those lines as well. But the bottom line is this is selective persecution based on ethnicity or political rivalry. She is gonna need a really good lawyer. She was definitely targeted as political retribution.

N600 form is not even free so it makes no sense for her(them) to have changed her DOB, if she did.

My understanding is that the permanent resident itself was derivative on the fact that she was under 18 and filed by the father. If not you would be correct she would qualify on her own. Now, that being said if she did file through her father and her bday is inaccurate ..she is doomed.
