🚨🎙️ Michael Carrick's full statement:
🚨🎙️ Michael Carrick's full statement: "I just want to say a few words. We're going through a rough patch, that's clear enough, so I'm fully accepting what's happening right now. We had five good first months, a period when I was satisfied with what I was seeing and what we were doing as a team. Lately, we haven't been up to it, that's pretty obvious. We're really not happy about it. Wednesday was a bad night, a bad night for a lot of reasons, and it hurt a lot. It obviously hurt me to see us play like that, to see how the match unfolded. As I said after the game, it was really unacceptable to play like that and behave that way. For me, the supporters are an essential part of this club; they make the effort to spend time and money to come and support us, and feeling what we all felt after the game was a tough moment. My responsibility is to put a team on the pitch that represents this club, that represents the supporters, and that they can be proud of. We've drifted away from that recently, and I'm fully aware of it. It's important to be aware of it, and I am fully aware of it myself, because our supporters are very important to me and to the club. I firmly believe we'll get back to what we all felt during that five-month period at the start of the year, so they can feel that connection, that energy, that intensity, that enjoyment, and that passion again. The foundations of this club and its values have been embedded for many years, and I understand and fully share them. Everything is built on humility, on being humble, on working hard, on being really proud of that hard work and proud of those values. This club has a resilience that's not new, whether it's bouncing back from adversity, pulling off spectacular comebacks, scoring late goals, winning successes, or sustaining those successes. There's a deeply embedded resilience in this club that I've seen with my own eyes and felt myself. I said it after the game: Manchester United is always bigger, has always been bigger, and will always be bigger than any individual. Bigger than me, bigger than any player, and that's always been the case. I'm fortunate to know some players and to have played with some of them myself, like Ryan Giggs, probably one of the greatest players to wear this club's colors. It was never about Ryan Giggs; it was about Manchester United. Wayne Rooney was this club's all-time top scorer, and what mattered most to him was playing for the team, sacrificing for the team, and doing what was best for Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson, the greatest manager of all time, the greatest in my eyes, who I was fortunate to work with: his absolute priority was Manchester United. And if we go back to Sir Matt [Busby] and Sir Bobby [Charlton], the resilience they showed and the way they rebuilt this club were simply incredible. Once again, it was built on humility and hard work, and we must never lose that. I won't let that get lost. I care about it deeply. We're capable of living up to those values; we've shown it before. Right now, yes, we're going through a tough time, so we have to respect this club, respect what it takes to be here, respect what it takes to win, what it takes to achieve victory. We have an incredible history, an incredible past. That doesn't mean we can win without effort. It takes work, a lot of sacrifices, and fully committing to the club and doing a lot of things that might not be very pleasant, but we have to do them for each other. It's important that we live up to that, it's important to promote those values, and it's important that our supporters feel it in the future. We've strayed a bit, but we'll get back on track. I'm absolutely convinced we'll get back on track. I respect this club, I respect what it entails, because it's very, very important to me."#manutd #mufc #manchesterunited #creatorsearchinsights #capcut
