@dotswellbeing: “Reasons I can’t possibly have ADHD” 🤡 Because I’m a woman. Because I did well at school. Because I’m not disruptive. Because I can sit still and focus. And yet… I have ADHD. With the recent headlines questioning whether ADHD is being overdiagnosed, it’s important that we have honest conversations about assessment quality and misdiagnosis. But the latest government-commissioned review also highlighted something crucial: we still don’t have enough evidence to conclude that ADHD is being widely overdiagnosed, and some people continue to be under-recognised — particularly women and girls. Because when we only look for one stereotype of ADHD, we risk missing everyone who doesn’t fit it. The girls who mask. The high achievers running on anxiety. The quiet ones who look like they’re coping while their brains are working overtime. Yes, ADHD should be assessed properly. No, that doesn’t mean dismissing people because they don’t fit an outdated stereotype. You can question the quality of diagnosis without questioning the legitimacy of everyone’s struggles. ADHD doesn’t have one look. And sometimes, the people who appear to be coping are the ones working hardest to hold everything together. 💛 What are your thoughts on the recent press coverage? #ADHD #ADHDAwareness #ADHDInWomen #Neurodiversity #LateDiagnosedADHD

got my autism diagnosis at 26 and everyone was like yeah makes sense, went to get my adhd diagnosis at 33 and my mom couldn't understand why like she still doesn't. I have since figured its because my family had long told me to "be quiet" and I masked heavily whereas my friends would clock me immediately, they knew xD

I had an adhd assessment last month, multiple times when discussing my symptoms that make life difficult he responded with “but you did well in school and you manage at work”
