Caspian🐾 :
I’ve never in my 27 years seen a red squirrel outside of captivity, I purposely go out to find them and I never have.

I feel bad for grey squirrels. They are constantly criticised for being an invasive species but they are actually pretty cool. Red are still way better tho

I love grey squirrels but I hate that they've destroyed our native red squirrels. I don't know why they let them become established.

Let’s not miss out the part where reds were hunted to near extinction in the uk because they were ‘destroying trees’. Red squirrels had to have their population boosted by bringing others over from Europe because people killed so many. The ideal woodland habitat that red squirrels thrive in has been hugely reduced by deforestation. Don’t just play into the hands of a narrative pushed to kill animals that don’t even understand that they shouldn’t be here.

When I was a kid my dad used to say that there’s no red squirrels because the grey and red squirrels had a war and the red squirrels lost
