@amazingabigailgrace: The amount of compliments we got throughout Hersheypark about our kids was 😭😭🥹💛 People noticed how they waited until Abby was safely seated and they had moved her crutches to a safe place before finding their own seats on the rides. How they immediately ran to grab her crutches the second the ride was over. How they naturally looked out for her without ever being asked. And to them, they aren’t going out of their way. They’re just hanging out with their sister. The whole time they are learning patience, awareness, and true inclusion. They’re learning to notice the things other people might overlook and to think about someone besides themselves. There’s a fine line before it hits glass child stage and their entire lives are simply about being “assistants” for the disabled sibling 😔 it was one of the first thing I learned about when I started going to therapy to deal with my special needs kids and I’m so careful to make sure my other 2 don’t feel like that (which is hard when the special needs one frequently ruins special outings and such but it’s a balance).

If you want to use the glass child theory then this isn’t the video to use. I see 3 kids happy and having fun at an amusement park. Yes one child might need help here and there but it’s not all about her when her siblings want to help her. All I see is happy memories being created more than anything. I’m sure they are going to cherish this day and talk about it when they are adults and might want to relive this day for old time sakes.

It grows into their children too. My uncle is mentally disabled and the amount of things he’s taught me is something I’ll forever value in favor of who I am today

My 6 year old is legally blind and had a stroke and her 5 year old sister is her biggest helper and it’s so precious.
