@alwaysmarbles: I want to talk about this perfume today bcs it encapsulates my current frustration with perfumes lately. Maybe it’s me, maybe I’m just refining my palette and weeding out the things I like but lately I have barely enjoyed any of the “holiday” type releases. I love Tonka, so all the things coming out that are Tonka heavy I get truly excited about, and then am immediately disappointed with how …uninspired?… they are. This one for example, Blood Spider Orchids by Régime des Fleurs, all the notes in it are some of my favorite: Cinnamon, Clove, Tonka, Nutmeg, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Frankincense. All of them on their own are delicious but setting aside the emotional response I have to those notes, I’m realizing that together -while yummy- it’s not something I want to walk around smelling like. It is overwhelming and kind of exhausting to me. This perfume in particular smelled like warm apple cider to me, and that didn’t go away, on the dry down it really just smelled like a generic holiday candle that I would pick up to smell and put back immediately. And I keep coming across “spice” perfumes that really aren’t pushing any boundaries. After yesterday’s disappointment with a very tobacco heavy scent, I think I need to be a bit more discerning when blind buying, for my sanity as well as for my wallet. #perfumetiktok #RegimedesFleurs #BloodSpiderOrchids #ontothenext
