The ISA is a cheat code if you live within your means . I'm a lodger and put the money that I would be paying towards mortgage , bills , insurance, council etc into my ISA. It adds up quick and I'm on track to fully retire at 41. I have property abroad though.😁 You played your cards right if you want to buy a house.

Was there a point which you felt you could afford to move out? I’ve got £25k in my LISA right now and still don’t feel ready

Congratulations, what an incredible achievement! I wish I had been as wise as you with my time and money at that age 🥲. If u don’t mind, can I ask you more about buying your car with a loan from the bank? Did you buy an ‘expensive’ car and how come you chose a loan as opposed to typical car finance? Also, were there any implications with taking out a bank loan during your mortgage application? As I am in the need to buy a car, but I also worry how a bank loan could affect a future mortgage application x

Love this! Huge Congrats!! Perhaps you could share more on how much you saved, how much you can borrow on a salary, fees and the offer process. Would be so useful for those who want to do the same xx

my kids are at home and have been giving me £500/month to live at home. that covers all their bills and food. yheyve both done it for 5 years now so ive currently got £64k saved up. they dont know this but they will get it all back with their child benefit that i saved for them from birth which means they will get £50k each. i intend to get them to buy a cheap house each around £150k and do them up. they can then rent them out or live in them with lodgers or live together and rent the other out. the vision is to get mortgage free within 5-7 years. overpay mortgage and get it done. that way they have a roof over their head and can enjoy their in one or sell and have a huge deposit for next home.
