I normally go in for a consultation on larger or truly meaningful pieces. We discuss concept, location & budget. I've been at the same studio for 15 years, the artist will work up, usually, 2 ideas. They'll call me to go see them, we either make changes or schedule the appt. If you're gonna give an artist creative freedom, make sure you know the artist & specialties of artwork. Some of the best at drawing do not the same capabilities with text/font styles. I work 2 artists at the same studio depending on the style I'm looking for.

I always tell my idea, and then i have references and follow it up with "your take on these, but none of these, have fun with it"

Everything on my right arm has been from the imagination of my artist. I gave here a general game plan and she went nuts and I love that I was able to allow her to shine in her style.
