I think what people also miss is that the recipients of the text only had the context of a woman going upstairs with one of their friends who they knew and trusted. People view these texts through the lens of "clearly it's a sexual assault", but the fraternity brothers wouldn't have seen it like that, and probably wouldn't have thought their brother to be capable.
