@pbsnews: Archaeologists say they have discovered what may be the world’s oldest known shipwreck, dating back some 4,700 years. The ship itself has long since disappeared, but roughly 30 clay jars remain intact on the seafloor. Their distinctive shape dates them to the Bronze Age, around the time the Pyramids of Giza were built. Researchers believe the jars originated in the Jordan Valley and likely carried olive oil or wine when the vessel sank along an ancient trade route. The expedition’s leader called the discovery “a time capsule at the bottom of the sea.” #pbsnews #pbsnewshour #newshour #news #shipwreck #turkey #archaeology
