There’s finally an authentic Chinese restaurant near Charlotte that specializes in hand pulled noodles! It’s called Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodles , and while the menu isn’t huge - a mix of authentic Chinese and classic American-Chinese dishes - what they make is good. My main critique is that some dishes should use a bit less sodium/msg. Here’s what we tried- 🍜Braised Beef Noodle Soup: Very mild, light, savory broth. Chewy noodles, bok choy, tender 5 spice seasoned beef. 🌶️ Chili Oil Noodles: Thick, chewy noodles with szechuan heat and bok choy. 🍆 Eggplant with Garlic Sauce: Soft sautéed eggplant, smothered in a sweet, sticky, garlicky saucy. 🍞Steam Buns: Soft Bao. Rich, tender meat filling. I do wish there was a bit more filling inside though. 🫛Stir-Fried Green Beans: Garlicky, spicy, some salt. Slightly blistered yet tender crisp. 🍗Sesame Chicken: Sweet, savory, and crispy. Great flavor. 🥟Fried Pork Dumplings: Rich, savory filling. Thick, doughy wrapper. Slightly greasy. 🥒Smashed Cucumber: Extremely refreshing. Cuts through the salt, spice, and fat of other dishes. A great compliment. 🥥Coconut balls: Fried crispy. Delicate crunch. Lightly sweet coconut filling. 🧋Passion Fruit Green Tea: Intense Passion Fruit Flavor, with the perfect amount of sweetness. There’s still so much I want to try, from the Beijing Zhajiangmian, to the ChaoMian (stir-fried noodles), to the MaPo Tofu, Kong Pao Chicken, Pepper Steak and more. I’d honestly like to try about 3/4ths of the menu - but I’d also happily eat everything we ordered on our last visit again. Oh, and while the ambiance is no frills, pricing on everything was very reasonable for the portion sizes. The most expensive dish on the menu was $21.99, with most averaging around $15.
