I think a lot of us were conditioned with this perspective. The idea sounds nice but I think a lot of times, it's more like no love masquerading as unconditional love. Because a lot of times, the person trying to love unconditionally is having to abandon themself (not loving or valuing themself) for someone else who probably isn't loving themself. It's probably more beneficial to love ourselves unconditionally, not abandon or give up on ourselves, value ourselves, and be our own best friend. Then we can recognize people who value themselves in truly loving ways and encourage that in a relationship.
