under two they do usually fly free but you still have to select that you have a lap child. i believe it’s for their manifest

Yes, all humans need a boarding pass because all humans must be accounted for in the unlikely event of an emergency. Fun fact pets also are recorded in the passenger manifest but they don’t have their own ticket they appear on your boarding pass.

They do fly free, but consider it like a teacher taking roll call. If a student who is there is marked as absent, they won’t know to look for the student in an emergency because their list says he’s not there.

yea a little morbid but if something happens, they do want to know every human that was on the flight. they print a flight manifest prior to closing the boarding doors!

I just flew with my son for the first time and learned this too but it’s also so they can put one of those masks in the ceiling part! A flight attendant is supposed to go over a few rules and guidelines with you and will mention it!

Under 2 is still free domestic but they need a boarding pass. Instead of a seat number it will say INF. Even on your lap they still need to be accounted for in total souls on board. TSA shouldn’t have even let you through without showing it.

They should fly free under 2!! When u buy your plane ticket you click “lap child” and then when you check in for your flight it will pop up to add the babies boarding pass! Still free :)

They are free, but you need a boarding pass. It’s hate to say it if there’s an accident or something, they have a headcount of all the passengers that are on the plane.
