@stripedlines: A cut in the bar. A trough close to shore. Foam taking the same route out after each set. Those little details give you something useful to work with: where the water is moving, how the bottom changes, and how your lure can pass through it. The biology matters too. Sand lance use the sand itself as habitat, burying when they aren’t schooling. Two beaches that look similar from shore don’t necessarily offer stripers the same food. Before making a longer cast, try a different angle through the water already in front of you. Start near, test the shoulders of the cut, and watch what your lure actually does. Fish cuts from shore. A calm-looking gap between breakers can be a dangerous rip current. Sand-lance study: Meyer, Cooper & Langton (1979), Fishery Bulletin 77:243–253. #StripedBass #Surfcasting #StriperFishing
