My parents bought their home for $280k in a nice neighborhood. My dad was the only one who worked. That same house is now $1.1 million. It's a nightmare out here

This is storyline is so exaggerated. Everyone is just piling into the most desirable areas. People need to get together and renovate less desirable areas with lower housing prices and organically create desirable communities.

Am I delusional or something? I’m 32 and just purchased my 3rd home (I don’t own 3, have sold the other two through life haha)… haven’t received a dime from my parents and didn’t go to college. I’ve had the same job since I was 15 though and worked all the way up in leadership. (Fast food btw)

Great point, what my wife and I are doing is similar and much sooner, we have two sons 9/13 we will be using equity form our home to purchase two single family homes to rent out over the next 10 years, both homes are a within blocks of ours. All three homes will be held in a trust. Once completed I have two older children that will do the same for and add those two properties will be added to the trust,

People just don’t want to work these days. Vote Republican because you’re not going to get everything free if you think that’s what the Democrats are going to do. Save your country.

It’s the down payment that gets people, bc they’re paying as much or more for an apartment as a home. However, they’ll drop $50k on their wedding, then cry that they can’t afford to buy a home. Priorities, I guess. 🙄

My Gen Z kids live with me in my condo, so the American dream is not what it used to be. I'm Gen X.

home prices are dropping because interest rates have gone up. exactly as intended and exactly how the market supposed to work.

I’m planning on using my equity to help my sons buy in the immediate future. I feel waiting until I’m dead is not going to help them at all.

Then there are the monthly payments to deal with with the interest rate rates being seven or 8%

My parents bought a home in 1953. I was born and raised there, both of my parents have since passed. The home sat for 3 years until we decided what we wanted to do. Lived here for 4 yrs so far. Financially a great move for us. We can enjoy life the way we want to.
