Claude seems to think through all the elements of what your building but Astra adds good points as well and is better for design . I use both regularly & them working together a good bit of the time!

I find Sol to be the best system architect, followed closely by Qwen 3.8 and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. I only use Anthropic models for design.

Claude in my experience is good at putting together a decent plan and Codex is good at picking it apart and refining it. Imo..

That’s funny, I feel like Codex understands my instructions better than Claude. Both are good, obviously, but I also noticed that Claude is too eager to make its own decisions, which is a kind of constant nuisance for me. I’m constantly having to tell it, “and don’t do this yet and don’t do that yet and don’t do any of these other things that I know you’re going to try to do.“

i usually use claude as the brain and orchestrator and let it use codex agents like sol or astra for building and reviewing, works great and cuts a lot on claude usage

I think of Codex as like personal projects.. context and UI like you said. Then Claude builds my “software development” agents or anything more technical

opus is a lot smarter, but it's really bad at communicating. if you have a plan that needs human review, sol is much better at communicating so that humans can actually be in the loop. soul's writing is also much more concise and focused with far less slop
