I know from Elk River to Mille Lacs Lake when they expanded 169 they went over a lot of Native American burial mounds.

I need to know where this is on 169. I had an incident once by 494 where I blacked out and couldn’t see anything. I couldn’t pull over because there were cones and one lane. This is when they were adding the ramps.

I went to school in Princeton, MN this was considered a curse in our school and it started with Roger Vallancourt. it was 2-3 kids every year that would pass away between to the ages of 15-18, I went to 5 funerals in a year in a half of friends that have died in car accident and then the curse continued. There was 3 kids that died so close together in one year that we made the news for multiple years in memory of them, they all died with in 6 months of each other I had 2 friends die in car wrecks only 18 days apart and then another 6 months later. Just thought I would share my experience.

I drive on Highway 169 on a semi-regular basis, but it's a long stretch of highway. Now, I need to go look this up to figure out where on 169 it is!

There is a whole book about this. Raising Roger’s Cross. I won’t get into all the details but if I remember correctly, Roger was beaten because of his sexuality and there was a bunch of people in on it and they never got in trouble because they were big names in the town.

I lived in elk river my whole life. the stretch of road between elk river mn to Zimmerman is not a great road many deaths. most people take the back road county road 1 to avoid taking that hey. People do not go the speed limit on 169 sadly. I never really liked that road growing up, the energy felt off.

I almost died on 169, going 80 mph in my small suv and a large dodge Ram chose to speed up just as i was changing lanes. He didn’t see my little blue suv bc his large handicap tag was hanging from his rearview mirror. Thankfully, I walked away with only a bruise.
