Yep, and a lot of us get trapped in situations by what I call the "legal lockdown". My ex didn't show any of these negative traits - anger issues, manipulation, control, gaslighting, violence - UNTIL we had a lease together. Once we both had our names on that lease, that's when the real "her" came out. Any time I tried to leave, I kept hearing, "I'm going to sue you for the full amount of the lease", "How could you walk out on me and my kids?", "We're going to be homeless and I would NEVER do that to you" and everything else.
