@mrsmoreno116: We’ve been dealing with Mady’s ankle injury for over a year now, but her medical treatment didn’t officially begin until April of this year. At first, we were told she shouldn’t wear a brace of any kind. Then, after her MRI, everything changed. She went from wearing a walking boot to a gauntlet brace, then a less restrictive brace, and eventually KT tape. She began receiving care at Shriners, where she completed three months of physical therapy. Unfortunately, despite all of that, we still have no clear answers. Her medical team is now referring her to UC Davis because even they are stumped by her injury. And now? Her referral keeps getting bounced back and forth between departments, delaying the specialized care she desperately needs. Meanwhile, my 10-year-old continues to struggle. She has lost significant muscle mass in her calf. The arch in her foot is practically nonexistent. She can no longer play the sports she loves. Running, jumping, hopping, and skipping—things that should come naturally to a 10-year-old—are no longer normal for her. You can physically see that something isn’t right with her foot and ankle. Even walking long distances causes her pain. Over a year of watching my little girl struggle. Months of appointments, braces, physical therapy, and unanswered questions. As her mom, it’s heartbreaking to watch her miss out on simply being a kid. We just want answers. We want her to walk without pain, run without struggling, and get back to doing the things she loves. We’re not giving up until we get there. ❤️🩹 Her MRI findings are shared at the end of this video. #PediatricInjury #AnkleInjury #MedicalJourney #ShrinersChildrens #UCDavisHealth

Hopefully they can get her into a foot and ankle specialist. I had similar mri results but had partial thickness tears of all of the lateral ligaments. Tendon synovitis of the FHL and peroneal tendon. Then they finally got in there to do surgery and found I had bilateral OCD on my talus. It took getting referred to a more specialized ortho and months of PT before I got any answers. I had surgery in April, the one year anniversary of my injury was in August. And I am finally almost back to pre injury function with so much less pain. Fingers crossed you guys get some answers.

None of her pt have said what they thought? Maybe they can't.. I've had two hard to diagnose injuries and pt was the ones to tell me what was wrong and which test to ask for.

I broke my left ankle at work earlier this year. After extensive physical therapy, it is better, but it will NEVER be 100% again, it still hurts me when I step on something wrong or crooked, even going down stairs is a challenge.
