The steps you should take to growing closer with God to be sure in the salvation Jesus has set for you can be done by following these steps. In private prayer confess your sins to Jesus Christ, surrender all of your ways to him fully putting your life in his hands (fully faithfully trusting him to guide you), and repent (turn away from/try to stop) of your sins by doing these next steps as you focus your eyes on him. Read the Bible consistently, even if in the beginning you are only reading a single chapter or even a single verse, read the Bible. This will help you to understand who God is and important principles that you should help guide you as you follow God. Moreover, it will also bring comfort and understanding when needed. Next be serious about prayer. The Bible says to pray without ceasing and we are free to speak to God whenever we need it so do it. You can also spend time with God doing things you guys both enjoy. Go on walks with him, spend some time in silence with him, or even do something active with him while conversing with him. This is not a marathon and will not come easy, but God has assured us that if we are faithful till the end, we will be blessed and we will be rewarded and we will receive eternal life!! Take heart and know that God is always with you pouring into you just as you are pouring into him. However, also please don’t forget that at the end of the day God will be the one to change you, take the steps yes, but ultimately full submission to HIS WILL will cause the change!!
