One television show may seem harmless. But when the same messages are repeated year after year, they can begin to influence how we view marriage, parenthood, and family life itself. What we repeatedly laugh at, we eventually risk learning to accept. There is nothing outdated about a father who leads by example, a mother who nurtures her children, or a husband and wife who respect one another. These are qualities we should be celebrating, not ridiculing. So be mindful of what your children watch. Teach them the difference between entertainment and an example worth following. And most importantly, demonstrate those values in your own home. The American family doesn’t need to be perfect.
