the two you called routine i would agree with but the crazy part is how many plays would be difficult for others but he makes routine with his speed and ability to read the ball off the bat

PCA's speed and anticipation are so great that he has plays which look routine but an above average player would struggle to make them at all

The whole point of his defense is that he makes impossible plays look easy. He gets the best jumps in the league and it’s not even close. There are balls he catches on his feet that other fielders wouldn’t even be able to get to if they dove

His speed manages to counter his lines...when you look at his defensive routes in Baseball Savant it appears he is only average at that, so speedy but not particularly heady/observant...

everyone saying "he makes hard plays look routine" is glazing. he's a great defender don't get me wrong but any outfielder worth a damn could make a lot of his catches. a web gem is a literal god like catch and he has definitely had some but 2 out of 3 on this video were nice plays at best not web gems

he's not good because he makes it look good he's good because he makes hard plays look routine any other fielder would have had to do a diving catch to do most of the stuff he's doing but he doesn't standing up that's what's so impressive about it not the way he catches it

The thing to keep in mind with PCA is that he makes balls that would be nice plays for most other CFs look routine because he gets such good jumps.
