I hate how the workers always act like the parent is over reacting. That was not my experience. I once got a call from the school that my child was absent, despite me dropping him off myself and watching him go inside. I called the school as I was headed to my car and the secretary dropped the phone and ran to his classroom to personally lay eyes on him. Turns out he’d been in the bathroom during attendance with a substitute. But they took it incredibly seriously, even put him on the phone with me so I knew for sure he was there and ok.

my parents got a call immediately every time I wasn't in class. that's also how they found out the bullying got worse in HS and I was sitting in a bathroom stall for the entire class to avoid them

My daycare called me all the time if my kid didn’t show up! Thank god they did, my son got on the wrong bus the first day of kindergarten! I freaked out! I’d want my money back instantly from this daycare

I don’t know if this is the case for all afterschool programs? But if someone who’s worked after school programs, if we’re expecting a child and we do not get them you call the parent. After school programs I worked and happened to be within the school, so we could just go to the office and ask if they were there that day. And we obviously had permission to share information between us and the School secretary. But I’ve done so multiple times.
