@rz1sl: Iraqi Vice President Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri Confronts the Kuwaiti Delegation at the Arab League Summit (1990) This footage captures a tense moment during the extraordinary Arab League Summit held in Cairo in August 1990, shortly after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, then Vice President of Iraq, delivers a sharp and confrontational address to the Kuwaiti delegation, accusing Kuwait of threatening Iraq's national security through oil overproduction and border disputes. The confrontation reflected Iraq's aggressive diplomatic posture following its invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990. Kuwait's appeals for Arab and international intervention escalated tensions, leading to Iraq's refusal to withdraw and the subsequent deployment of a U.S.-led coalition. The summit marked a critical moment when Arab League members were forced to choose sides in the lead-up to the Gulf War. Al-Douri remained a key figure in the Ba'ath Party until his death in 2020 #صدام_حسين #العراق #fyp #ديرالزور
