However, it's good that you now begin the surah with the first verse and not with verse 29, which Christians often use to claim that the Quran is directed against Jews and Christians. This is a falsehood based on a misunderstanding of the expression "those who were given the Scripture," considering it the same as "People of the Book." This is a grave error that no one familiar with the three criteria of the Quran would make: People of the Book: the Jews Those who were given the Scripture before you: every nation to whom God sent a messenger with a book before Islam Those who were given the Scripture: all those to whom God sent a messenger with a book, including the Arabs to whom God sent Muhammad with His book, the Holy Quran.
