@wildman.steve: The honey locust is a street tree that drops long twisted black pods with sweet honey and banana-tasting pulp inside! These are in season in the fall. The wild trees are often thorny, but the street trees are bred to lack the thorns. Though insubstantial for cooking, enjoy this as a snack while walking through the park or city. Always be 100% certain of identification before using wild plants or mushrooms for food or medicine. Check out "Wildman's" books or the Foraging with the "Wildman"! app, or better yet, join one of our tours to learn hands-on!
