@elite.recruiter: Every company has two org charts. The official one with titles and reporting lines. And the real one that shows who actually has influence, who the CEO listens to, who gets consulted before decisions get made, and who can quietly kill a proposal that never officially got rejected. The professionals who advance fastest learn to read both. Thanh for the great sharing. I am curious: more often than not, the power chart is invisible, what’s your advice to figure it out?

I got pushed out of my position at one job cause our senior director on that team didn’t like my position on a security issue and I refused to move out of the way. Senior director had her hand up the VPs backside and had me trained out. Corporate setting is nothing but politics.

Yes! I call this the informal network. The org chart tells you who reports to whom, but the informal network tells you who actually has influence. And when you’re driving change, those are the people you need to tap into. They’re often your true change champions.

Here's what I don't understand: Wouldn't great leaders see through all of the bullshit and understand its negative impact on the company and the bottom line? Or are we just living in a world of mediocrity? I guess we are.
