@ffppod: Hurricane Maria plunged Puerto Rico into darkness. See how long it *really* took for power to return to different communities. The data is shocking. #PuertoRico #HurricaneMaria #DisasterRecovery #ClimateChange #SocialJustice #NASA

Does it differentiate between power generated by the electric grid and the power generated by private power generators?

Also simply being in a more densely populated area would likely mean you’re more likely to have power back sooner cause it benefits the most people

I live in Carolina, PR and we got power back after Irma and 8 days later we got hit by Maria. We got power in the area we live at a few days before Thanksgiving. I wonder if those images take into consideration power generated by generators and power plants, and not actual electricity from the grid...

I lived in Trujillo Alto during hurricane Maria and I got power restored mid April-May after 200+ days. My parents are from Cidra and they got power back first than I did in January-February.

Im very thankful this topic is still being discussed by some people, as someone who had to leave the island because of Maria I’d really like to see some change in the way power is being distributed in Puerto Rico & similar countries

I only had a blackout for 49 days, my wife who used to live in a barrio didn't have power for about 6 months. Wildest part was that we used to leave 5 minutes apart by car.

In my community, water service resumed in December and electricity in February of the next year. Rural areas were definitely left for last.

my mother's house was directly attached to the military base in Aguadilla and I genuinely thought because she is attached to the military base power goes, she would be one of the first to get her power back. I let her live with me until it was known that she had power back due to health issues. I got her out around Sept 23ish and the power didn't return until late December
