Trigger warning when I was little my upbringing was basically on survival mode this man that was always around my parents in the middle of the night he wanted to bring me and my mother to McDonald’s and I just had a really bad feeling and told my mom like no I don’t wanna go. My mom and me ended up staying back but in the middle of the night this guy kidnapped my mom I still remember my dad and his Trans Am looking for my mom everywhere.

i thought my mom's friend just really liked mcdonalds when i was little. turns out it was her way to buy me and my mom food when my mom was struggling without having to make my mom feel humiliated or embarrassed. she always got me a happy meal. a few years ago her boyfriend took her from us during a domestic violence incident and i never felt more angry and it was the only time in my life where i genuinely considered shooting someone.

Had a new coworker walk in every morning carrying a bag of dog food. Weeks go by before I finally asked about it. She walked to work every day and fed the stray dogs on the way home. Fell in love with her that day. Been best friends for 40 years.

I always brought an extra shirt in the car. You know for sauce accidents. And god damn, wouldn't you know it, my dad spilled his plate sauce onto his shirt.

Not quite the same but the past couple of years have been hard for me professionally with the economy. At one point I had to give in to self embarrassment and go to the local food bank. They were so nice and acted like being there was the most normal thing with no shame. I nearly lost myself to tears at their kindness. When life returns to normal I’ll be adding donations to them as a monthly payment.
