For years, I gave my power away to addiction, to unhealthy relationships, and to people I thought I needed. I kept reaching for things I believed would make me feel better. Drugs to escape, relationships to feel loved, and other people to fill the emptiness I carried inside. But in completely different ways, they kept me trapped in the same cycle. I kept putting my own needs aside. I kept looking for love and validation outside myself. And I kept losing pieces of who I was, trying so hard not to lose something or someone else. Until I finally started recognizing the patterns. And that's when I began making different choices. I started facing everything I'd spent so many years avoiding. The pain. The fear. The loneliness. The parts of myself I'd neglected for far too long. And little by little, I started taking my power back. I learned that I could feel an urge without acting on it. That I could miss someone without going back. That I could be alone without feeling incomplete. And that I could finally choose myself without feeling guilty about it. Today, I don't need drugs to escape my life. I don't need someone else's love to feel worthy. And I don't need to keep repeating patterns that once kept me trapped. I have my freedom. My peace. My self-respect. And most importantly, I have myself back. I BROKE THE CYCLE. I CUT THE STRINGS. AND I TOOK MY FUCKING POWER BACK. I became present in my own life, free in my own mind, free to finally be me. That's what recovery gave me. So whatever has you trapped today, addiction, codependency, or a relationship you've lost yourself in, it doesn't have to own your future. Take your power back. Choose yourself. Choose recovery. And never hand those strings back. If I can, so can you. Much love, Christa J. 🩷 #AddictionRecovery #WeDoRecover #Codependency #Joy #Dance
