@breaking_footballnews: 🚨Virgil van Dijk on Mohamed Salah’s sensational start at Trabzonspor after leaving Liverpool: “Someone asked me if I was surprised by what Mo is doing at Trabzonspor, and I laughed. This is the same man who could score twice at the weekend and still come into training annoyed about the chance he missed. That is Mo. He is never completely satisfied. Playing alongside Salah for years taught me that his biggest strength isn’t just his speed or finishing. It is his obsession with making the difference. When the game gets difficult, he wants the ball. When his team needs a goal, he wants the responsibility. He doesn’t wait for somebody else to become the hero. People saw his goals at Liverpool, but they didn’t always see the work behind them. He would repeat movements, practise his finishing and get frustrated when he felt he could have done something better. Even after a great performance, he was already thinking about the next one. Now he is at Trabzonspor, and everybody wants to debate whether his performances would be the same in England. I think we are asking the wrong question. Why can’t we simply appreciate what he is doing? People spend so much time discussing when a player will decline that they forget he is still out there performing. Mo has spent years answering questions with goals, and now he is doing it in a different shirt. What I respect most is that he hasn’t gone to Turkey to live off his Liverpool reputation. He has taken on a new challenge, with different teammates and new expectations. He could have chosen to enjoy the memories of everything he achieved in England, but instead, he wants to prove himself again. And I think his new teammates will quickly understand what we understood at Liverpool. Give Mo half a yard in a dangerous position, and he can turn an ordinary attack into a goal. Changing leagues doesn’t suddenly erase the intelligence and experience that made him such a difficult opponent. Of course, he won’t score in every match. Nobody does. What matters is his consistency, his hunger and the influence he brings to his team. I will always respect what we accomplished together at Liverpool. We shared incredible moments, fought for major trophies and experienced the pressure that comes with representing a club where supporters expect you to win. Mo was a teammate you could trust to produce when the pressure was at its highest. But football moves on, and players deserve the freedom to embrace new challenges. Liverpool will always be part of Salah’s story, but Liverpool does not own the rest of it. I am happy to see him enjoying football, taking responsibility and giving his new supporters reasons to celebrate. He has earned the right to write another chapter without constantly being judged against the last one. And if there is one thing I know about Mo, it is that he will never be satisfied simply because people are praising him today. Tomorrow, he will want another goal, another victory and another opportunity to make the difference. He hasn’t gone to Trabzonspor to protect his reputation. He has gone there to build another one, and judging by his start, he has no intention of doing it quietly.”#football
