I’d say the marks were cause the grass was starting to die due to weather like you said. I think it would only be disrespectful if they asked you and you just kept doing it repeatedly with no regard.

grass will definitely grow back. you’ll feel ruts if there is any but it’ll grow back within 3-5 weeks at least that’s how long my grass takes, although with winter rolling around it may take longer and you may still see it next year yet. if it still is a continuous problem next year just take a rake and rake out the dead grass that died off which allows new grass in its place.
