I agree. You are talking about unconditional love. Most people don’t know what that looks like. We live in our mind, driven by our trauma. Not everyone is aware of it. Mostly people think their trauma response is love. They seek validation from outside themselves.

Now, my thoughts... True love is selfless. It doesn't demand, possess, or bargain. It simply exists without the need for reciprocation. Whatever is freely given is appreciated, never expected. I disagree. It's human nature to want to feel appreciated and valued by someone you love. So not expressing this in some kind of gesture is disrespectful in my opinion. You don't have to spend a lot of money to do this; a single rose, a thoughtful, inexpensive gift or a heartfelt letter. That's all that's needed to let a person know how much they mean to you.

I don't think this is accurate. If you said needed instead of wanted, I could see it. We will always want things... that's an innate human behavior. The difference is that someone who loves you is able to place your needs and desires above their own as needed. I think true love also requires you to be selfish at times, too. But never too much of either. It's a delicate dance between two people
