As a middle school sped teacher it’s a love/hate relationship. My students legitimately need speech to text, text to speech, etc. They also benefit from practicing handwriting though. I don’t use it very often, but it is a necessity for some

It’s like watching Addicts detox this year! When the law went into affect for 1 hour a day of technology, we have a lot of angry and out of control behaviors because they don’t know what to do without it. Literally compare them to addicts and when they are told “no compromise yet tine”

that's why as much as I loved working with my kiddos virtually(through a homeschool/independent study charter school) as an elementary special education teacher, I liked it much better working with them in person. I think they learned a lot more when we worked in person.

My 1st graders school just implemented a no tech for lower grade levels this year! Last year in Kinder, they used iPads every day to learn reading and math. At least 30 minutes a day in class, and then more at home as homework! They needed 90 minutes in Math and Read each!! Plus what was sent home for paper homework!! I found the tech work was WAY to much!! As a school district, they sent out servays and asked parents what they though and then decided to go tech free!

my daughter is doing her last practicum and the use of AI in her papers for grade 9 work is insane. she has now said all assignments will have to be done in pen or pencil

we limit elementary school students to 30 minutes a day MAX. I teach 3rd grade and use our chromebooks maybe once a week, if that.

thank you !! my 6th grader works better with paper and pencil than every homework assignment being some kind of game or quiz on the Chromebook.

I hate that every test is online. We tell the kids they have to interact with a text multiple times and teach them how to mark the text, and then give them tests online that are a cold read and they can't mark it. Math should be on paper so they have to show their work.

I remember the video where one of you said they couldn’t get kids to fold the paper into 8ths. It’s cuz Chromebook’s don’t fold

We have to get the kids used to it for their state tests. I get it. Also, do we have to have programs that students have to use for 20 mins a day? If it's not that, we aren't on our Chromebooks. The crash out is too much.

let's go back to having computer class. Keep it an hour a day so when it's testing time they know how to use the devices, but have learned how to function without them
