@primalshadows: On January 26, 2025, a live female black seadevil anglerfish was filmed swimming near the surface off Tenerife, Spain—the first time this deep-sea species was ever seen alive in daylight. Living over a mile deep, these fish lack swim bladders, so scientists suspect an ocean upwelling or severe illness forced her to ascend. Her body was preserved by Spain’s Museum of Nature and Archaeology.
