as a car dealer myself, don’t do this, take it to a local mechanic shop and ask them to do a pre delivery inspection :) (sometimes there’s like a $100 fee) but they’ll let you know of EVERYTHING.

That won't tell you everything. Get a pre-purchase inspection. Did this while buying my kids' vehicles. I paid for several before deciding on their vehicles, but it was worth it. I almost got stuck with 10k worth of work on a vehicle with a beautiful exterior.

No you need a mechanic because if they reset the codes of the car when you go use the diagnostics it’s gonna say nothing is wrong with it.

From someone who briefly worked at a dealership TAKE A MECHANIC cs I saw people turn codes off and then the people came back like a week after to tell us the car was fcked that’s why I quit cs that’s foul

If you’re buying from Carmax, they’ll let you keep it a day and you can pay to get a pre-inspection done at a local mechanic before purchasing.

parts ppl can’t fix cars that’s why they ended up in parts. typically they know a part name not what it does and a diag is more than just a scan
