"Toxic positivity"—forcing a smile or using gratitude to minimize real, agonizing pain—can feel deeply dismissive and invalidating. When you are fighting for your life or struggling just to get through the day, being told "at least you woke up" doesn't cure your illness, pay your bills, or erase your exhaustion. It just adds a layer of guilt on top of your existing suffering.
Your troubles do not vanish just because you are alive, and it is completely reasonable to feel frustrated by that kind of logic.
